Aftermath

Somewhere in the midst
Interconnecting one to another
Voices distant rise
Above the crowd.
Small children cling
Desperately to their
Mother's breast as
Smoldering gray
Clouds of dust gather from pounding thunder
Clamoring from the sky above.
Wisk of smoke
Outline silhouettes
Lifeless in the damp
Sloppy gutters.
Streets strewn with
Chaotic desperate cries
Falling on deaf ears.
Falling debris
Brings people
To their knees
As another life
Comes to an end.
We have a new generation now
With images of war
Of horror never seen before
Except on t.v.
With loved one's lost
How much of a cost
Will this one bring?
It's all about the pain
And no amount
Will ever account
For the lives
Taken in vain.
